Nola.com has a better version of the flickr.com graphic at http://www.nola.com/hurricane/index.ssf?/washingaway/goingunder.html. Also, the page links to the entire special report in the Times-Picayune. The special report has additional related graphics, including an animated SLOSH model.

nytimes shows an interactive satellite image, which gives quite a good overview of the events timeline.
