pink noise
13 September 2005
a dynamic & real-time data visualization of the ambient sounds in the environment as well as from the passer-by, installed within a street lightbox usually used for advertising. 'bruit rose' (Pink noise) is a musical term that describes a random electronic noise across all sound frequencies which sounds tolerable for the human ear. LED light emmitting panels, usually used to divulge numerically formatted information, are used as an animated data representation, disengaged from all the gloss that usually occupies this urban advertising space.
Pink Noise is currently up & running on the corner of Witte de With Straat, Rotterdam (The Netherlands) during this month. [hehe.org|via culturebase.org]
