worlframtones.jpgan interactive online application based on the computational universe of Stephen Wolfram, who uses music theory & mathematical algorithms to render them as music. each program defines a virtual world, with its own special story that is captured as a recognizable musical composition. its goal is to render mathematics as truly melodious sounds of different genres, allowing a greater understanding of mathematics using the human faculties for appreciating & understanding music.
the visual representations are musical scores, played from left to right, displaying the behavior of the programs in the computational universe, with successive steps going across the screen. the colors are chosen on the basis of the mathematical rules (automata) & the target musical style, with different color tracking different instruments.
