smartlid_coffee.jpga color-changing disposable coffee cup lid which shifts from red to brown as its contents cool. the lid uses a heat-sensitive color-changing additive which also shows if the lid is on properly.

I suppose that word should be disposable (although some non-coffee drinkers like me might think a disposal lid and/or cup is appropriate for getting rid of the stuff before putting it in your mouth.)

yes, it should be disposable, not disposal. now changed! thanks, Ray.

quite nice but it isn't so useful because if you drink hot coffee you:
a) know it
b) you feel it by hand
so looking at coffee cup will not be needed.

BTW - link to smartlidsystems.com doesn't work properly

I think it changes so you know at a glance if your drink has gone cold or not.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who will forget her cup of coffee and dreads the first sip upon discovery, not knowing whether or not it's cold.

Nice improvement on an old design, but liquids can still splash out of the hole in the lid.
