
an online data visualization tool that allows users to investigate the connections between search results of about 3,000 different Supreme Court & Federal Circuit legal cases in a dynamic network diagram. cases are displayed as circles, & the lines between cases are citations from one case to another. the size and color of a case are determined by the number of citations connecting it to other cases in the search results.

Does anyone actually use this type of stuff on a daily basis?
I think the semantic substrates visualization by Shneiderman and Aris is much better than this, and has the same goals. The use of a rainbow colour scheme without any legend makes the colour meaningless here. The help says that red and blue are the endpoints, but remembering that, and mentally ordering the in between colours is quite a challenge for reading at-a-glance.
