controversial infographic award

a graphic originally published on page 1 of the The New York Times, & winner of a silver medal on SND (Society for News Design) contest. this graphic, titled "The little graphic that could" has been subject to some controversy whether it was actually worth the price at the visualeditors.com & newsartists.org forums.
