Kinda fun way of visualizing this subject.
It's cute, but ... information graphics? All the information is represented as text. Okay, there are like two pie charts, but that's it. I think it's a neat idea and well done (and she's gorgeous, too! ;), but IMHO, this is not an information graphic.
I don't know about where you work, but that's definitely not okay to view where I'm at (nor would I want to see anyone else viewing it).
I think there's probably a better way to visualize statistics about internet porn. If someone is concerned about eradicating porn, they probably don't want to see the stats displayed all over a woman undressing in very suggestive ways.
While I'm intrigued to see the impact of porn spelled out in (depressing) porno terms, I'm seriously puzzled by the intent of Good Magazine, which seems to be a sweet n' cuddly venture aimed at rich people who like Death Cab. It's offensive and terrifying, like duh, porn itself, but are they trying to be cute?
Mims, krees, why eradicate porn? I respect that you may find it uncomfortable (and terrifying, even) and may choose not to view it yourselves, but eradication is a very agressive response. I am unsettled by boxing and violent movies but am content to live and let live.
As a happy porn consumer I enjoyed the video a lot. Rob, I agree with your point and can personally imagine far more graphical ways of representing the statistics. Hopefully I'll find them in a video on another site.
First, I never said that I was for eradicating porn (although I am). I have had training in the fields of sexual assault and violence, and one of the recurring factors, especially with regards to pedophilia, is the influence of pornography (even in its most basic forms, not just the violent or subversive forms). I would happily trade porn for a safe environment for everyone.
I think too often we stick with the status quo because it feels "right" to us and threatening to think of other ways of being. I challenge others to envision a better way of living and being even if it means radically changing the way things are currently done.
BTW, what does "mims" mean?
man I can't believe the fascist comments on this! you might as well say kill all the black men so that there aren't big enough tools for porn hahahahaha I can't believe some people and their idea of a "Better Brave New World"
