an urban installation that illustrates alternative, sustainable ways of harnessing energy by visualising it as an ephemeral cloud of light. a large number of mini wind turbines generate the power to illuminate hundreds of mounted leds, hereby creating firefly-like fields of light. wind is visually interpreted as emergent electronic patterns across the installation.

I approve. I like how it's simple, and yet effectively illustrates wind = energy, in a very visual and dramatic way.
Where would one find these mini wind turbines? This is a fantastic idea, one that I would love to duplicate on the roof of my building.
There's a permanent wind to light installation on the promenade in blackpool, england - powered by two wind turbines. Wind speed moves LEDs up/down poles and the color scheme changes when the wind chenges direction.
The same artist has done a seismic sound installation - VERY COOL - see both at www.hurrelvisualarts.com
