another sophisticated interface for browsing the Amazon.com database. for each search, up to 3 top-selling products in different categories (e.g. music, dvd, software, books, jewelry, clothing, toys & electronics) are shown. users can select detailed individual product information, including a selection of user comments & hierarchal product categories, which can then be used as new seeds for further exploration.

I'm not sure this is all that useful of a visualization. It acts more like an interface and an overly complex one at that. Way too much wasted space / data ration. Hard to read, hard to compare one piece of data (say price) to another.

Stuff like this just screams of an idea that was generated from cool, rather than a hard analytical look at how to improve product finding.
