some recently introduced visual search metaphors. searchme uses an interactive interface resembling Mac's Coverflow in iTunes & Finder, RedZee adopts a similar, but more rudimentary visual metaphor of showing screenshot thumbnails that can be navigated in a seemingly fluid way, while brynsbrain prefers a pseudo-3D interface that known from the 3D tilt viewer.

Very cool, but the tilt viewer is a little nauseating all the same. Coverflow is nice because not everything in the major visual field moves, much like a jukebox. I found myself intrigued by visually disoriented.
I bumped into this article and might be interesting to start a discussion:

Another visual search tool, this one for digital photos on your computer, is Photology (www.getphotology.com). All of the requisite tagging of the photos is done automatically.
I ran across this visual seach tool recently, it's very well conceived + designed.

I especially enjoyed brynsbrain.com
I especially enjoyed brynsbrain.com because of its nice interative nature. My keyboard is anoying atm sine it wont alow me type two leters consecutively, or alow me pres two butons consecutiveky at al. that search rngine used only the mouse XD
Visual search is nice, but it's too bad their algorithms are either terrible or just haven't crawled enough to be of much use... I'd much rather see this kind of technology applied as a filter for more established engines. Let them do the search work, and these visionaries do the interface work.
Hi!
For my MS thesis I have designed Cocovas: an Information Visualization system for Internet IR systems which uses a novel Visual Metaphor unifying in a single view the representation of the similarity and the relevance of document results.
You can learn more about this project in the Cocovas's Page.
