There is some interesting online coverage of the IEEE VisWeek [vis.computer.org], inclusive of the Information Visualization Conference (Infovis'08), Visual Analytics Science and Technology Conference (VAST'08) and "Visualization Conference" (Vis'08). These conferences, currently held in Columbus, Ohio, are considered as the top venues for presenting (mainly academic) research in the field of information visualization.

In particular, Robert Kosara has set up a "live micro-blog" [eagereyes.org], describing the most important events as they unfold. Furthermore, Martin Wattenberg, an IBM researcher known from information aesthetic flagships as Many Eyes , Baby Name Voyager and Shape of Song, will provide his view in a guest post on this very blog.

Please alert me if there is any other online reporting of these events!

Thanks for the link! ;) Carlos Scheidegger is also blogging from VisWeek; he's currently doing InfoVis, but his focus will shift more towards Vis once that starts.

For those interested, Mike pointed out an interesting report of the VAST 2008 Keynote by Christian Chabot, CEO of Tableau Software.
