Three recent projects based on the concept of using solely words and typography to create portraits of famous people, here focused on the US Presidential Candidates. Based on a so-called word portrait of Jimi Hendrix and Obama by Gui Borchert, Neoformix recently posted an algorithmically based word portrait of Obama in black and white as well as color [neoformix.com]. This concept seems to then be further pursued by a series of typographical portraits [cnn.com] by graphic design students of Georgia State University.
All these are also quite similar to Wordle and Word Hearts.
Partly via Data Mining & thanks to Woody.
UPDATE: you can actually buy a word portrait poster of Obama at the official Barack Obama website.

hah, now combine that with tag clouds ;D
oh no, the obama poster sold out. And they're up on ebay now -- for 150-900$... and I thought I could wait until after he won, that it'd be cheaper...
