SketchCast [sketchcast.com] is based on an old principle: the improvised drawing on the back of a napkin in a bar, to sketch ideas and thoughts on paper to get a concept across another person. The website presents a new way to communicate "something" online by recording a sketch, with the option to overlay the animation with a voice or speech. Any sketch can be embedded on a blog or home page for later playback, as one can observe below.

Aren't there about a thousand of these out there, notably Japanese ones with manga cartoonist following?
Are there? Could you give me some of the links?
There are a few, but this is the first one that I’ve seen that allows embedding youtube style. Unfortunately its drawing capabilities are pretty limited, making it pretty dull for those familiar with the Japanese toolsets.
The most prominent of which is Shi-Cyan, which operates as a BBS: http://hp.vector.co.jp/authors/VA016309/spainter/index_en.html
Others I’m not so familiar with, but wikipedia has a decent rundown: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oekaki
