Princeton PhD Candidate Bill Zeller has developed a Chrome extension that is capable of visualizing your email inbox statistics. In practice, the "Graph your Inbox" [graphyourinbox.com] extension provides the same powerful search functionality used by Gmail, but instead of a list of messages, it displays several graph of resulting trends over time. Search queries can be merged, and include 'from' and 'to' addresses, category labels or other metadata that Google typically accepts. Individual data points graphs can be further explored to reveal subject headings, which can be clicked to open the according email messages.
