The interactive map "Qui Sommes Nous" (French for "Who are we?) [], developed by French visualization studio Dataveyes, portrays the inhabitants of Rennes Métropolis by revealing various demographic statistics gathered in several open datasets. Its purpose is to spark curiosity and engage conversation around the findings revealed by these statistical population figures.

The map shows the data of all 37 municipalities which constitute the urban community of Rennes Métropolis. The statistics are broken up either by age and gender ("Me"), or by household structure ("My Household"). Other filters range from professional activity and marital status, to housing type and number of rooms.

The more interesting part though, is the intuitive way of combining particles and mapping, in that animated particles or dots float from the map into a statistical bar graph representation.
