a chest strap (corset) equipped with high torque servo motors & a WiFi-enabled game-console that "visualizes" the presence of closed, encrypted wireless networks through bodily pain. "everyday walks between home, work & leisure are recompiled into a schizogeographic pain-map" (literally) imprinted on the human body.

by keeping track of any alteration of everyday walking routines, the resulting geographical GPS maps show a psychogeographic pain-map, as well as reveal the wearer’s admiration for gentle tortures.

"News Knitter" converts information gathered from the daily political news into clothing. live news online feed are analyzed, filtered & converted into a unique visual pattern for a knitted sweater. each sweater is a wearable evidence & graphic result of a specific day or period.

two different concepts of wearable displays (or "performative textiles") shown at the recent siggraph conference.

kameraflage is a display garment with elements that appear only in digital photographs as a sort of digital camouflage. for instance, students at private schools & employees of chain-stores will be able to express themselves to their camera phone toting peers.

Animated Textiles uses cloth as an animated surface that is receptive & responsive to external stimuli. all electronic components such as LED lights & circuits are fully integrated into the fabric. in the future, both cloth & clothing will be able to display real-time data input from a variety of sources

a multicolor video dress showing an animated time lapse sequence of a rose opening & closing. the dress itself is the display driven by about 15,000 LEDs embedded withing the fabric.

the same designer, Hussein Chalayan, is also known for his impressive shape-changing dresses that are driven electronically by hidden geared motors & battery packs.

2 wearable information displays integrated in clothing, aiming to increase the self-awareness & reflection of its wearers. the "Smoking Jacket" has a built-in pair of lungs on the front. as the wearer smokes, the lungs fill up with the exhaled cigarette smoke & begin to gradually darken over time.
the "Malignant Mole Bikini" appears normal when not in direct sunlight. wen exposed to UV light, dark moles begin to appear in various places on the bikini. in contrast to the numerical depiction on the UV meter smart bikini, the information is visualized in a more direct, visceral manner while also maintaining a comical approach.

a cookie whose nutrition facts are printed on the icing in edible ink (cost: $25 for a set of 2).

similarly, a cotton t-shirt with all the clothing facts printed on it, here used to demonstrate an eco-friendly printing procedure: no sweatshops, no harsh chemical dyes, just cotton & water-based inks.
