a set of visualizations based on a dataset of cross-references found in the Bible. the one shown above is a biblical social network. after the break, are images visualizing the cross-references as arcs. the bar graph running along the bottom shows every chapter in the Bible and their respective lengths (in verses). books alternate in color between white and light gray. also visualized is the entire text of the Bible, with biblical names positioned and sized according to their average position in the text and their frequency of occurrence.

a visualization of the political debates in the U.S. elections. each line represents a reference from one candidate to another, while the length of each circle segment represents the total words spoken by each candidate during the debates.

one interesting pattern are candidates who are only referred to within-party versus those who are mentioned by the opposing party.

a collection of aesthetic data visualization from the (new?) Yahoo! Design Innovation Team, also known as "Yhaus". interesting examples include "I You He She", an application that shows live questions from Yahoo! Answers to generate an overall, impression of people's raw feelings & thoughts. "Delicious DNA" compares social bookmarking patterns with colorful barcode patterns. "traffic map" depicts a forecast view of traffic conditions.

currently available as large Quicktime movies only.

hierarchical search visualization

a search visualization that allows users to "explore a dynamic picture of related information, instead of searching through long lists of text." the main topic relevant to the search query appears in the center, with related topics branching out around it, whereas related web sites appear at the bottom. selecting any topic with repeat this process.

a geographic text browser, intended to help readers explore the spatial & geographical component of classic works of literature. the application parses public domain texts from Project Gutenberg, & extracts all the geographic locations it can find. Gutenkarte offers an interface in which the books can be browsed by chapter, by place, or all at once on an interactive map.
