a novel data visualization applet showing how the performance of the SAP stock value relates to global news headlines. the stock history graph is arranged along a spiral-shaped timeline, a form whose metaphor is based on the growth rings of a tree, with press releases depicted as small dots. just like annual rings, wide bands in the spiral represent good years, while very wide bands indicate even better years. dragging actions causes the spiral to rotate & zoom, double-clicking reveals the news stories or keywords popular on that particular day.
