They look very good indeed. Too bad the graphics are sometimes very confusing about the underlying data. (I admit, I read those books by Tufte)

reaching the equilibrium between effectiveness & beauty is not easy at all, as most of the projects on this website demonstrate. I think?

I think this data is intentionally misleading in a number of cases. The Diff'rent Smokes graphic represents particulate emmisions as a cube. From 1980 to 2000 emissions grew 22%. The graphic scales all three dimensions of the cube by 22% making the cube grow by 80%. It's natural to think of particulate emmissions as the volume of the cube rather than the length of a single side. This is classic Tufte "lie-factor". It's the same deal with "Bigger, Faster, Stronger, More"

"Grass is Greener" is just wierd. The text references undeveloped land area, while the graphic references urbanization.

Love your site, but these are mostly bad infographics.

thnkx for the good comments, Chris!
