small, wearable LED displays that are capable of intuitive & purely graphical interaction, triggered by close proximity: each wrist band device displays a customized graphic on a small LED screen, which becomes automatically merged with those of other devices in close proximity, hereby creating unique & unexpected visual symbols. these wearable screens attempt to bring people into contact with each other through sharing creativity & graphical experiences.

this is so fucking retarded. who the hell could possible benefit from this?
hey jim, let's exchange extremely low resolution led images!....
yet another piece of technological garbage
nick, me: maybe the main value of most of these projects is not the technological side (i.e. clumsy LED screens). instead, fuse seems to experiment with what people are doing today with SMS/MMS, but instead of using telephone numbers they exploit physical proximity, instead of text & pictures they are using simple graphics. in the future, large LEDs matrices might be incorporated in clothing, as some other examples have shown.

easy Q...your MOM!
Hmmm. it's 7x7. I once made an 8x8 LED matrix that had reasonably enough room to display conways game of life, andthe funnest part was programming in new interesting patterns: "..becomes automatically merged with those of other devices in close proximity, hereby creating unique & unexpected visual symbols." It would be nice to know the rules and algorithms for pattern input/generation and "merging." Do you plan to market and sell these?
jerd, the rules & the algorithms are quite well explained in the link in the article.
clearly, I am not the creator of this project: I am just blogging about creative & novel data visualization approaches.
I am tickeled and touched to read these comments and critisisms about my project.
Keep them coming... :)
What a nice original idea, my 10 year old loved the idea.
a original wrisband that she could share with all her friends, maybe even when she goes abroad and meet other kids.
maybe in DisneyLand. or Brighton
Haha nice ! For pure gimmiky value alone. Dont let those rude morons put you off - :P
